Ok ive made a apply poison build and I need a critique and some help.
I picked up a stinger for 1k so i decided to try this out
12 marks +1+3
12 wilderness+Some runes
rest expertise
Dual shot
apply poison
whirling defense
practiced stance{E}
These are pretty much required. my questions are what are the best skills to finish this off and is practiced stance the best elite?

i wouldnt go with practiced stance... but im not all that expert at bow rangering anyway. You dont need it because of the expertiese you should have, so you wouldnt have to worry about ~7 mana every 12 seconds (apply poison, or is it 24?) the point is that its long enough to not have to worry about, unless you have some major energy hogging skills.
Id wait for other more expert advice though.
And i thought that whirling defence didnt spread poison? I saw something about that where someone was trying to make a solo-melee build off of it. ccrazy stuff.

I just thought that practiced stance would be best because of the extra length that it would add to apply poison. Thanks for the advice I cant wait to see what others say.

First I would like to say that you got a good deal on the stinger. Good job.
You can make money by selling it for 5k or you just use it for yourself for this build.
I don't think practiced stance is a good Elite for this build for a couple of things...
-You use a stinger . The poison from apply poison will last a pretty long time.
-Apply poison lasts a good time that there is no need for practiced stance. A build like this requires practiced stance because the duration of the preperation is really lacking.
I cannot help you further until you tell me what type of build this is. DPS? Damage dealer? Condition Disher?
Till then, Happy Build Making

Its more of DoT i would say...Man if barrage let you use preps this would be insane...Anyway I was planning on something like apply poison shoot group then pick them off while loosing health.
What elite should I have then?
*edit* yeah i got it from a guy in ascalon who was yelling about selling good bows cheap. He showed it and I said that id give him 2k and he told me it was a noob weapon and only wanted 1k.*/edit*

You can invest in beastmastery for tiger's fury, which allows you to spread the poison at a quicker rate. You could also use choking gas with the practiced stance in cases where you need to suppress casters. In terms of direct damage, I don't think this ranger can pull off too much.

CG removes his AP.
Poison.. eh it stays there until it wears out.. whats the point of having TF?

This is what im going with
Dual shot
apply poison
troll
Poison arrow{E}for more poison damage (plus its neat)
Serpents quickness
Power shot
Penetrating shot
point blank shot
Ill put AP up shoot the group then ill takethem out with power, penetrating, and PB then when ive thinned the group out ill take out the straglers with poison arrow. Use serpents quickness to help recharge my attacks (plus I get the 15% damage bonus from the stinger) use troll when needed. I like this build

If given the option, I'll personally always take Poison Arrow. You can have another Prep stack on top of it to do max damage, and it's an easily spammable skill with what 1s recharge? No bows shoot that fast anyway, so even if you're interrupted you can shoot as soon as you stand up most of the time.
I love Stinger for doing solo, if you have some mean enemes in the way then you can poison and flee, the Poison Arrow lasts I think 28s or so with 14WS and Poisoner string. A Hill Giant for example is about 60% dead after that poison duration. Not bad eh?
Choking Gas + Practised Stance can be a bad day for spellcasters for sure. Normally the 12 second downtime on CG is a killer, but I guess most of that's negated in this situation. Oath Shot can get rid of it as well, but IMO that's a waste of an Elite for most builds.

Serpents quickness
Power shot
Penetrating shot
point blank shot
--------------------
No need for both apply poison and poison arrow, poisoned is poisoned. If you use Poison Arrow then use a different prep, like Kindle.
Too many attacks, look at the recharges and pick a couple then bring a couple of interrupts to make yourself more useful. And bring rez.
Dual shot
Poison arrow{E}
Distracting Shot
Savage Shot
Kindle or another non-poison prep
Serpents quickness
troll
rez

Here's another one...
Dual Shot
Poison Arrow *elite*
Ignite Arrows
Hunter's Shot
Distracting/Savage
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent
Ressurection Signet
I see no use for Serpants quickness when you have poison arrow.
Sooo....
This is a basic skirmisher with degen abilities, perfect for PvE.
Use ignite arrows while shooting your poison arrows. And hunter's shot when they are running all over the place. Dual Shot for double the damage. Whirling for defense. Res/distracting for PvP. Simple.
You make me want to run this build in CA

The point was to have CG in cases where he would need it, using poison at all other times. As for TF, well there are usually big mobs in PvE. If your whole build is about applying poison, then the quicker the better, I suppose.

Um, Just how high is your expertise exactly?
It sounds like you don't have it high enough, which is why you probaly feel you need practiced stance becuase 15 energy can be expensive for a ranger who doesn't invest appreciably into expertise.
As for posion in PvE...
You might want to try bringing a beastmaster to the table. Posion combos with scavenger's strike, and if you time it right due to the pet's tendancy to "stick" to a target you can probaly tag multiple targets while the pet stays on the called.

Expertise should be as high as possible, its the only reason you'd want a ranger primary anyway. Not using it would be a waste. Get it up to at least 10, 13 is even better and 14 is perfect. You dont need high Marksmanship if you want to poison anyway. With 12 Marksmanship and Wilderness Survival, you'll have only 3 points in Expertise.
I dont know how many Elites you've unlocked, so here is a sample build that doesnt use any, not that great but adaptable and useful for both PvE and PvP.
Expertise 11
Wilderness Survival 10
Marksmanship 10
(Apply runes/hats to your preference)
Hunter's Shot
Pin Down
Savage Shot
Apply Poison
Troll Unguent
Whirling Defense
Throw Dirt (optional)
Resurrection Signet
